Counteract negative information with useful, positive information

Sometimes, you may not be able to get in touch with a site's webmaster, or they may refuse to take down the content in question. For example, if someone posts a negative review of your business on a restaurant review or consumer complaint site, that site might not be willing to remove the review. If you can't get the content removed from the original site, you probably won't be able to completely remove it from Google's search results, either. Instead, you can try to reduce its visibility in the search results by proactively publishing useful, positive information about yourself or your business. If you can get stuff that you want people to see to outperform the stuff you don't want them to see, you'll be able to reduce the amount of harm that that negative or embarrassing content can do to your reputation.

You can publish or encourage positive content in a variety of ways. For example, some websites allow the company in question to post a reply addressing the complainant's issues. If a customer writes a negative review of your business, you could ask some of your other customers who are happy with your company to give a fuller picture of your business. If a blogger is publishing unflattering photos of you, take pictures you prefer and publish them in a blog post. If a newspaper wrote an article about a court case that put you in a negative light, but which was subsequently ruled in your favour, you can ask them to update the article or publish a follow-up article about your exoneration. (This last one may seem far-fetched, but believe it or not, Google has gotten multiple requests from people in this situation.)

 All it takes is a little manipulation from your competition, such as a link to Google’s search results from an email with keywords such as Matt Cutts Scam or use of words such as complaints, ripoff, DUI, or “goes to prison”.

I know this might just look like drumming on about what's the hot topic on the internet right now in relation to SEO "Getting your google + profile pic in Google search results"

But here are some tips on how to do it

Get your google id from your google + profile url

On your website / blog sidebar or header or footer add this link,

HTML Code:

<a href="https://plus.google.com/GOOGLE+ ID"
 rel="author" target="_blank"> Join me on Google+</a>

Replace GOOGLE+ ID with your Google profile link id

Go to your About Me page and add this link anywhere you want,

HTML Code:

<a href="https://plus.google.com/GOOGLE+ ID"
 rel="me" target="_blank"> My Google Profile</a>

Again replace the Google+ ID with your Profile ID

Now go to your G+ profile and click the “Edit Profile” button
Then click on the "LINKS" area as shown below,
Add your Blog/site homepage URL and also the URL of your About page

You can also visit my blog to get the lowdown on it at "Digital Grog"
